  2. DAVID PACKER SERIES

The re-imagined series has been interpreted by some reviewers as an allegory of the presidency of Barack Obama. If you haven't seen this miniseries or don't remember it, it's a really good watch, and keep in mind, the only way out of these things, like Nazi takeover, this fictional takeover and Trump/GOP is resistance. Like I said, it was like the writers could see the future. This was written before people had home computers, before the Internet, before Fox News existed, before the GOP became such an evil and vile bunch. Then they declarer Marshal Law so that they, the visitors, are basically they law on earth.ĭoes any of this sound familiar? How far from what the GOP has done in recent years and especially now since Trump is this? Not far at all.

So right away the visitors, stop the TV station from showing it and take over all media so only pro visitor things are spoken of. One reporter, this brave young man, hid on the mothership and took footage of what the visitors really are, lizards who only eat raw animals, fur and all. The fools with some exceptions, especially the youth, believe the visitors. Then the visitors used the media, especially one female reporter, a la Fox to spread the word that the scientists and medical profession were harming them and spreading lies about them that no one should believe and it works.

So of course the suckers believed them and were on their side. Now first the visitors told the humans on earth that only they could help them and give them things that could save the earth and cure disease like cancer. The visitors first do their version of "Fake News" and conspiracies against them. OMG, it's like the writers of V were predicting the future of America. I keep wondering why I haven't seen reports of lots of Vs sprayed on various posters and walls in current day Trump America.? It'd seem appropriate! You need to get cracking! by Anonymous It was really well done and loaded with all the history of the resistance to the nazis in Europe and the Holocaust and a passing of the baton to the next generation of the resistance. I dont remember much about the series - I think I got bored after the initial few episodes back in the day - but do remember one early scene vividly - the one where some young teens are defacing the lizard-people's political posters and spraying an X over them - when an elderly Jewish guy comes upon them and says something like 'no, no - like this!' and takes the spray can and does a big V instead. Gather she's had good reviews - and you just know that lots of of V fanboys and girls are peppering the audience. In this manner, the work references larger global events, such as trade, the environment, history and warfare, in a realistic manner: ‘mad bull lost its way’.Think Jane Badler has a lounge act of sorts she occasionally still does here in Oz - a night with her doing cabaret stuff, Jane the chanteuse, etc. The titles that I use are also instructive in connecting the work to other ideas: the original idea for the sculptures of bears came from images of dancing bears and I chose to maintain that reference to the end.

For example, industrial images are connected with animals in my practice, owls on a pallet or dogs made from plywood. The word image is used precisely, because an image that resonates beyond itself or connects with other ideas imbues the finished piece with information and perspective. The sculptures are made from ceramic, new or recycled wood, and found objects, and are of medium size often using monochromatic color and thematic repetition. This material naturally falls into specific categories, as I am only interested in certain things my web site is organized in a similar manner. Specifically the practice involves identifying images by sorting through diverse source material, ranging in content from the sacred to the profane, then working on paper, both in sheet and book form, and then making and/or fabricating sculpture. The relationship between man and the world is thus described, how one affects the other, how they interact physically and psychologically in a shared space. These vernacular objects, sometimes reconfigured with new media, or combined with other found materials, are transformed into objects that resonate with more complex associations. The sculptures embrace what appear at first to be simple, recognizable objects such as plastic water bottles, car engines, dogs and other animals. Following in this vein, my work challenges our preconceived notions of the world by visually integrating two disparate interests: industry and the natural world. “…see the fire is sweepin' our very street today burns like a red coal carpet, mad bull lost its way” - Jagger/Richards, Gimme Shelter, London, 1969ĭescribed by Mick Jagger as an “a very moody piece about the world closing in on you”, Gimme Shelter describes “ a very violent, rough era”.
